Brian Thompson is the Art Director and Co-Designer of Big Fish Studios’ critically acclaimed and award-winning Drawn series, and the up-and-coming mobile game, Fetch. In his role as Art Director, Brian creates inspiring new brands, tells visual stories that elicit emotion, and manages a fantastic team of artists whose work helps shape the growth of the studio and company.
The creative process behind the making of Fetch is currently a featured exhibit at the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle. Brian’s work has appeared in Wired magazine; Spectrum: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art; and the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators. He has illustrated cover art for HarperCollins. He is also the author of New To Games, A New Vision, a feature article for Gamasutra in 2012. Brian is a graduate of Art Center College of Design and holds a B.F.A. in Illustration, with distinction.
Prior to joining Big Fish Games, Brian was Lead Concept Artist at Surreal Software, working on Midway's This Is Vegas title. Earlier in his career, he helped develop the look and feel of games at Pirate Games and also spent two years as a commercial illustrator at Picture Plane Imaging, where he illustrated marketing and advertising material, including video game box art, toy packaging, and licensed characters.
